Kenneth Shorr: A History of the World: Crowds and Power
April 3 – June 3 1982
In his window installation, A History of the World: Crowds and Power, Kenneth Shorr used images of masses of people to visualize figuratively the social forces shaping the individual. Drawn from textbooks and media sources, the scenes were from both identifiable moments in history and everyday life. These scenes represented Shorr’s analysis of the ‘damaged sensibility’ as a lack of individuality—a loss of uniqueness, awareness, and authenticity.
