Sharon Hayes: The Lesbian
April 2 1998
From August 1 through November 15, 1997, Sharon Hayes drove across the US to discover “lesbians in the natural habitat.” Stopping in 45 lesbian living rooms, Hayes performed her own work and gathered research, conducted interviews, and led discussions regarding issues of family, community, identity, and representation. In The Lesbian, Hayes presented her findings as she led the audience on a guided tour of an invisible exhibit on lesbian culture.
