Independent Curators International presents Curator’s Perspective: Koyo Kouoh

Koyo Kouoh speaks at the Curator’s Perspective, an itinerant public discussion series that features international curators who distill current happenings in contemporary art, including the artists they are excited by, exhibitions that have made them think, and their views on recent developments in the art world.
Kouoh is a Cameroonian-born independent curator and cultural producer educated in Banking Administration, Cultural Management, and Curatorial Practice in Switzerland, France, and the United States. She is the founder and artistic director of RAW MATERIAL COMPANY. Specializing in photography, video, and public interventions, she has curated exhibitions in Brazil, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and the United States and has written extensively on contemporary African art. Recent projects Kouoh has been involved in include: Documenta 12, Kassel; “Make Yourself at Home: Contemporary hospitality in a changed world,” an exhibition curated in collaboration with Charlotte Bagger Brandt for Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen; and “GEO-graphics,” a map of African art practices past and present, curated with David Adjaye and Anne-Marie Bouttiaux to celebrate fifty years of African independence at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. Koyo Kouoh lives and works in Dakar.
