New Museum First Saturdays for Families: Rivane Neuenschwander: A Day Like Any Other

September 4 2010

Brazilian artist Rivane Neuenschwander merges painting, photography, film, sculpture, immersive installations, and participatory actions in the exhibition “A Day Like Any Other.” She stresses the relations between art and viewer in works such as Involuntary Sculptures (2001–10), fifteen small sculptures made out of everyday items (bottle caps, straws, small pieces of paper), created by people in a social setting, such as a café. Participate in an action-based workshop led by New Museum educators, take part in a gathering, and discover the involuntary sculptures you are able to create.

Also, become a part of I Wish Your Wish (2003) and make a wish for the future.

Museum First Saturdays for Families are free of charge. This program is designed and recommended for families with children four to fifteen years old, and includes free New Museum admission for up to two adults per family. Children under eighteen are always admitted free. No preregistration is required. Space is limited and tickets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Your entire party must be present; tickets will not be given to partial parties.
