Born in Milan, Italy, Luigi Cazzaniga has lived and worked in Soho and Noho since 1984. His work was exhibited in the Dali Museum in Figueroa, Spain, the Milan Sicof Photo Festival, Galleria dei Serpenti in Rome, Janos Gat Gallery in New York, Hamilton Gallery in London, the Knitting Gallery and the Rizzoli Gallery in New York, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boulder Colorado and Fnac Galleria in Genoa. Two of his books, “Mondo Inter” and “Group Portraits” were published in Italy.

In New York, Cazzaniga continued fashion and portrait photography for W and Women Wears Daily, W, Playboy, the New York Times, Popular Photography, Vogue and Seventeen. He was correspondent for Italian Marie Claire, Elle, Gioia, Amica and was Art Director of Cover magazine, a downtown New York arts journal. As a correspondent for Italian RAI, he shot videos of American life, from Mormon polygamous families in Utah, to New Orleans gun shows, and child beauty pageants in Texas. His Hyper Abstracted video projections have been shown at the Bronx Museum, the Bowery Poetry Club, the Shankill Castle, Ireland, Casalmaggiore Contemporanea, Cremona’s Palazzo Salviati and Caravaggio, Italy, and the Stream Gallery in Bushwick.

Cazzaniga and his wife, poet Ilka Scobie have curated Art Am during the last three Soncino Bienalles in Lombardia, Italy. Featured artists included Ugo Rondinone, John Giorno, Alex Katz, Kianjah Roberts, Martha Diamond, Alighieri Boetti, Tano Festa, Mario Schifano, and Pietro Manzoni, who was born in Soncino. Cazzaniga’s digitally altered photographs and video projections reflect the aesthetics and cultural cross polination of New York City and a small town in Northern Italy.
