“Larissa Velez-Jackson is a choreographer, multimedia artist, and director also based in Brooklyn. She has presented solo work at venues such as the Cutting Room, Joe’s Pub, People’s Improv Theatre, and Symphony Space in New York City. She has premiered pieces for Movement Research at Judson Church’s “About Town” series, the SoloNova Arts Festival at PS122, the “Brink Series” at Dixon Place and Danspace’s “Food for Thought” series. In 2009, Velez-Jackson was a “Fresh Tracks” and “Studio Series” resident at Dance Theater Workshop. In September 2010, with the Larissa Velez Performance Company, Velez-Jackson opened her first full evening as part of Danspace Project’s Platform 2010, curated by Trajal Harrell. Velez-Jackson has created and performed vocal works with artist Brian Belott at numerous galleries in NYC. Their group vocal work, Wordless Chorus, was presented at the Swiss Institute, Canada Gallery, and the Milwaukee International Art Fair in 2008. She is launching a new musical collaboration with her husband Jon Velez-Jackson called Yackez.
