Born in Warsaw in 1966 Zmijewski studied at the Faculty of Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the years 1990 - 1995 and made diploma at the studio of Professor Grzegorz Kowalski in 1995. In 1995 he was a bursar of Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. On the exhibition “Guarene Arte 2000” he was given Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Per L'Arte Prize for the work “An Eye for an Eye”. In 2005 his “Repetition†was shown in Polish Pavilion in a frame of Venice Biennale. The last film Themâ was shown on last documenta in Kassel. He creates installations, photographs’ objects, photographs, video realisations and films. Zmijewski was an editor of “Czereja” magazine. He currently works with DAAD Artists in Residence in Berlin.
