Four Artists: Drawings, at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Tokyo, Japan
August 20 – September 20 1977
“Four Artists: Drawings” was the third exhibition and the first international exhibition to be organized by the New Museum. The works of the four artists were chosen because they were representative of the diverse nature of contemporary art in the U.S. While dealing with different issues, the artists used the common medium of drawing, which had become a legitimate art form, not merely a vehicle for technical study preliminary to painting.
