Part of the exhibition “Strange Attractors: Signs of Chaos,” Christian Marclay’s Tape Fall taps into the exhibition’s exploration of parallels between contemporary artistic practice and emerging scientific ideas about chaos. The installation Tape Fall features a tape deck continuously playing a track of dripping water sounds. Suspended nine feet above the gallery floor, the tape deck unwinds its used reams onto the floor. The resulting pile becomes a sculptural form of the aural experience.
